Hackney Council releases plans for 'Shoreditch Village'

Hackney Council has revealed plans for a 150,000sq ft retail development New Retail Centre planned for Shoreditch, named Shoreditch Village, which will be located off Shoreditch High Street.

Whilst the development is still awaiting planning permission, it is expected to be granted permission next year and completion of the site is anticipated by mid 2015. The development will be the first retail development in the area since Spitalfields Market in 2005 and there are plans to include office space and a hotel as well as retail and restaurant space. The site has been privately owned by two families since the 1970s and it is understood their plans aim to work in harmony with existing local businesses and provide new public spaces. Dominic White, one of the sites owners comments - Our scheme will reflect the progressive and highly eclectic mix of the area.
