8 Reasons To Live In Theydon Bois

In 1066 Theydon Bois village had a population of around 10. A church was built on the present site of Theydon Hall in 1253, today we have two popular churches within the village, St Mary the Virgin and Theydon Bois Baptist Church. By 1428 Theydon Bois was officially named, the community did not have to pay taxation at this time because there were fewer than 10 householders. In 1832 the famous 62 Oaktree’s still here today were planted along The Avenue across The Green by Robert Westerby Hall-Date, Lord of the Manor. In 1535 entertainment was introduced to the village folks as well as the royalty coming to visit. 1822 was the year a small school started, and by 1828 it situated just 8 pupils. The railway reached Theydon Bois in 1865. 1965 The village hall was built.
