History/Evolution
In 1066 Theydon Bois village had a population of around 10. A church was built on the present site of Theydon Hall in 1253, today we have two popular churches within the village, St Mary the Virgin and Theydon Bois Baptist Church. By 1428 Theydon Bois was officially named, the community did not have to pay taxation at this time because there were fewer than 10 householders. In 1832 the famous 62 Oaktree's still here today were planted along The Avenue across The Green by Robert Westerby Hall-Date, Lord of the Manor. In 1535 entertainment was introduced to the village folks as well as the royalty coming to visit. 1822 was the year a small school started, and by 1828 it situated just 8 pupils. The railway reached Theydon Bois in 1865. 1965 The village hall was built.

The Village Community
Seasonals are celebrated throughout the year, during the summer months annual fairs are held on the Village Green. The Donkey Derby, of which we have sponsored for the past three years is a popular event held to raise money for the scouts, guides and other youth groups in Theydon Bois. Here you can find donkey races, dog shows, fairground rides, tombola's, and lots more.

During the month of November is firework season. The month to wrap up warm and head down to Theydon Bois Primary School's for Guy Fawkes Night where the skies of the village light up. During December a popular Christmas market is held. The perfect setting to get into the holiday spirit, with the sweet aroma of mulled wine and cinnamon spice and the village youths singing traditional Christmas carols.

Other special events including valentine's day are also catered for, Venus In Flowers located on Station approach will allow you to treat your loved one to romantic gesture and declaration of love. Bag a bargain at Theydon's local 'Nearly New Sale' located in Theydon Bois Preschool, a perfect opportunity to sell outgrown or unwanted items without having to travel.

Various cuisines are within walking distance allowing villagers to take their taste buds on a tour and experience the flavours from all around the world. The Indian Ocean is a regular for most of the villagers, with a rating of 4.5 stars on trip advisor, customers travel far to enjoy a truly exhilarating experience filled with various flavouring and spices.

A comforting Sunday roast is available in both the Queen Victoria or The Bull pub with well cooked meats, seasoned vegetables and the famous Yorkshire puddings drowning in gravy. The village also locates one of Essex's finest Italian restaurants, Ill Bacio, and a tasteful Turkish, Kuzine. As well as, a quality fish and chip shop for a Friday night treat after a long week at work.

Grab a salted beef, mustard and pickle bagel at the Brick Lane Bagel shop located on Station Approach or a selection of made to order sandwiches, rolls, cakes and pastries in our village bakery. Theydon Bois also provides an award-winning Butchers founder in 1996, Quality and Excellence offers an extensive range of products including fresh meats, fruits and vegetables as well as a delicious deli.

Activity Clubs and Groups
The chance to meet like-minded people who share your passion. The girl guiding and boy scouting such as, rainbows, brownies and guides is a great way for youths to take part in new experiences and adventures and work towards earning badges as well as making memories with friends they will treasure forever.

For those the mums that don't have time to go to the gym but want to keep fit you can enjoy 'Spring Boc', a trampolining club which takes place while your children are at school. If you're not a fan of trampolining, Theydon Bois also has a tennis club, golf club and cricket club.

As well as fitness, the village also caters for the lovers of astronomy with astronomer's club taking place in Theydon Bois Preschool, an art group, a drama society, jazz club and lots more.

Schools
From 2 and a half years children are able to attend Theydon Bois Pre School. Here your children will have access to a curriculum that encourages them to develop positive attitudes about themselves and others in a safe and secure environment. In addition to the local preschool, Smiles Montessori is a 5-star day nursery allowing your child to be educated from 3 months to 5 years old by qualified and friendly staff.

From the age of 4-5 you can enrol your child into Theydon Bois Primary School, a state funded junior school for boys and girls living in Epping, Essex between the ages of 5 and 11.

Davenant Foundation School, Debden Park High School, Roding Valley High School and Trinity Catholic High School are popular secondary schools' youths living in Theydon Bois often attend.

Living in Theydon Bois not only do you have the village atmosphere but access to London with a central line within the village. Just minutes from the tube station The Bull dates back to the 17th Century with its original oak beams and wooden floors, The Bull is a cosy place to meet with friends, family or colleagues for a drink or bite to eat. The Queen Victoria provides a warm welcome, fast service and generous portions. The staff are friendly, and customers are regularly returning.

Forest Walks
Theydon Bois village is lucky enough to be situated within walking distance of Epping Forest, providing villagers with beautiful walks, views and perfect for your four-legged companion (dogs). As well as Epping Forest Theydon Bois is known for its central duck pond, park, acres of land and deer sanctuary.
