Royalty to attend East End history exhibition in Mile End

A member of the Royal family will be coming to the East End for a 90th anniversary celebration of the areas rich history.

The East End: the place we call home exhibition will offer an insight into the lives of east Londoners from the slums of the Victorian era to the present day.

The touring exhibition, organised by Gateway Housing, features an art installation telling the story of notable people from the area, as well as a film where Gateway residents share what the East End means to them.

The Duke of Kent, Prince Edward, will attend a VIP launch for the exhibit this Wednesday, at the Mile End Ecology Pavilion, in Haverfield Road, Mile End, where he will also meet with Gateway residents.

Following the launch the exhibition will be touring the borough from October to March 2017. The tour will open to the public on Thursday at the Brick Lane Gallery, in Brick Lane, Bethnal Green, and is scheduled to run until Sunday..
